We often only think about our health and wellness when we don't feel well, don't like the mirror's reflection, or notice the negative habits we want to change. 

All are taking a reactive or automatic pilot approach to the most essential thing in our lives, our bodies. When I refer to our bodies, I am talking about functionality, all aspects of self and health, bringing you away from the number on the scale to determine your health.

While we all have different needs and capacities, we all wish our mental, physical, and emotional health to be the best we can be at any moment.

Today, I'd like to offer you a proactive plan for your well-being by creating a Health & Wellness Vision Plan.

A Health and Wellness vision plan is similar to a Business Plans mission statement, except this is about the personal you.

Health and wellness is a moving target; we don't just arrive and stay there, so building skills that create resiliency along the way is a valuable tool too. This vision plan puts you in the driver's seat. It creates a roadmap of how you want your future health to look and feel mentally, emotionally, and physically in your ideal state. It helps you keep your goals top of mind so you can stay on track and make continuous progress toward your dreams, no matter what is happening in the world around you. 

Through awareness, you learn to become intentional and connect your mind, body, and heart. You have a choice.

A Health and Wellness Vision plan reflects your:

The purpose of a Health and Wellness Vision plan is to help you to:

  • Identify your motivation to take small steps

  • Identify your intention: Your purpose stating what you want to have and how you want to feel

  • Connect with your inspiration: Create an open mind to what's possible for you

  • Clarify your goals

  • Visualize your goals

  • Track your progress

  • Stay motivated throughout the year

  • Hope and dream

The Health and Wellness vision plan is your road map to identifying: 

  • What matters most to you and your priorities - no one else but you can decide

  • What do you need/want to improve on (What can use a little work, we all have something!)

  • What is your plan for improving what you want to improve

  • How can I get from here to where I want to be

  • And creating your big dream, the vision of how you will feel being your best self mentally, physically, and emotionally.

  • What do you do "really" well?

There is a famous quote from journalist Tony Schwartz, "We can't change what we don't notice." We need self-awareness, passion from within, and self-compassion to become our best selves. It's important to remember that a Health and Wellness vision plan is not about a comparison to someone else or their wish for you; it is your wish to be better than today.

Creating this roadmap will help you develop short-term habits, goals, and consistency over time. It is easier to create a path forward when you connect to your dream, and it supports you in understanding how to choose your next step.

With continuous awareness, curiosity, and self-compassion, It reminds you to ask yourself, "Is this action bringing me closer to how I ultimately want to feel?" You learn the power of the pause to choose your actions and behaviors consciously.

There is mounting research that shows that having a vision of one's best self enhances well-being, increases hope, and has a higher rate of reaching your goals.

Starting with the big picture, our future selves, we then focus on 3-month goals and continue to weekly goals, resulting in the answer; I know where to start and what to do today.
